Description
"ST. ANTHONY HOSPITAL BENEFIT WITH MR. BOB HOPE" RADIO TRANSCRIPTION DISC. ONE COMPLETE 35 MINUTE RADIO BROADCAST ON THIS 16 INCH, BLACK LACQUER, 33 1/3 RPM DISC. THIS DISC WAS RECORED BY KOA, DENVER FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY AND NOT AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. VERY RARE!
This is an approximately 35 minute broadcast of a appearance by BOB HOPE at a benefit dinner at The Emerald Room of the famous Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, Co. The program was broadcast by KOA, Denver. This was a benefit program for a fund raising drive to build a surgical wing for St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver, CO.
The first 9 minutes of the program feature an introduction of Bob Hope by KOA president Bill Grant. Bob Hope is inaugurated as an Admiral of "The Prairie Dog Navy Reserve" for his service entertaining troops overseas. The ceremony includes Colorado Governor Edwin Johnson. Bob Hope is also made an honorary Sheriff of Denver.
The next 15 minutes feature a very funny monologue performance by Bob Hope. Bob Hope mentions many celebrities during the monologue: Hope mentions Elvis Presley - says that "3 months ago he couldn't spell Kentucky, now he owns it". He also mentions Bing Crosby and jokes about him being with younger women: "as he gets older his eyes get younger"

Disc is in Excellent Condition with Excellent or better sound, absolutely beautiful sound recorded directly at the source of the performance! There is no label on the second side of the disc
This is a very rare Bob Hope radio broadcast, I could not find any reference to this broadcast or appearance
