DRU and ANN - Livin' in My World RPC JZB - 11261 : STEREO Grinnell College , Iowa, 1968
MEGA-RARE, Obscure, Out-of-Print, Unjustly Unknown and Absolutely Wonderful.
One of few known copies... And it’s a near-perfect example!
Beautiful and diverse material : Timeless classics and brilliant originals spanning the folk/pop/psych gamut. Two women and their guitars harmonizing together beautifully.
ANN herself provided the following story behind the LP:
"We recorded it in April 1968 at three in the morning in the Grinnell College radio station, KDIC, which was still under construction and not yet broadcasting. Dru was friends with one of the engineers, who sneaked us in. We sat at opposite sides of a small table, each with one microphone. We sent the unmixed tape to RPC, a subsidiary of RCA Records in Camden, New Jersey. We had already picked out an album cover design from their stock and had sent the two photos and my liner notes. When I wrote the notes, we hadn't yet decided what songs we were going to record, hence they're listed only on the LP labels. In order to determine how many copies to press, I put a form (made with a Ditto master!) in every student's mailbox (there were 1,150 students at the time; now there are 1,600) that said something like, 'You've enjoyed Dru and Ann in concert. Would you buy an album for $3.00?’ My recollection is that we had 250 copies made."
This copy is a truly stunning example, likely the finest ever offered online. It appears to have been very rarely played, and is in Near Mint condition with no scratches. Playback is at least EX+ with only very minor surface noise, likely inherent in the pressing.
Cover is NEAR MINT in SHRINK!
