A rare self titled album by Prof. James Benson, 'The Gow-Dow Experience'. All sounds on this album are the end result of experiences from 1969 to 1973. It's members did not consider itself a "jazz" group. In fact they considered the term "jazz" to carry with it historically in society the connotation of "nigger," a negative and stereotyping nomenclature. The philosophy and concepts coming from the Gow-Dow Experience are those of spontaneous, unstructured, free flowing experience, yet having its own spiritual values. It has nothing to do with the word "jazz" as described above. Hence the words, "A New Dimension In Black Musical Art Form."

We grade this innovative record LP at least a VG+, if not slightly better. Under a light using a magnifying glass we could find no real scratches, but did find traces of dirt particles. Labels show very minimal wear, looking good overall. We grade the record sleeve VG+ as well. This is viewing it through the opened shrink wrap the sleeve is enclosed within. It looks clean enough, with some corner tip wear on right side sleeve opening, which also shows some light tanning down the right edge. Enough photos were taken below that we hope will help in the description.
