Description
Pet Milk Grand Ole Opry Broadcasts 283(Sep 01, 1961) and 284 (sep 08, 1961) vg-, little background noise in a few parts. See track listing below for details. It does have a slight warp but tracks fine on my table. All have been cleaned on my record cleaner and stored inside in LP sleeves.
For those of you those aren't familiar with these, they were used by radio stations in the 60s as a weekly segment for the Grand Ole Opry. Radio stations were instructed to air the 2 shows and then destroy the record after airing. Since most radio stations followed the rules, almost all were destroyed and that is why the rarity of these exists. Very few are in circulation today and they probably belong in a country museum or Opry archive, or serious country collectors collection.
I found a collection of these, all from 1961 with a total of 12 LPs or 24 radio shows. I will be listing each as I play grade them and try to make a track listing of each which is difficult since no online info exists hardly. I will be willing to sell all in a package deal if the price is right, just shoot me an offer.
What's neat about these is how they use the artists to work in a Pet product every couple of songs as sort of built in advertisements kind of like how radio station jockeys do now. I am not familiar with most of these artists except for the more famous ones, so please bear with my track listings as I'm just going off of show introductions and google:
