Description

Up for auction is the seminal Contemporary C 3532 from 1957: Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section, featuring Pepper on alto, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums. This is a ex-radio DJ demo copy of the album, and it is stamped as such by the record company on the back cover and the label of the LP itself (as can be seen in the photos).
Sleeve: EX, with a small piece of tape on the upper left hand corner of the front that crosses the spine over to the back (can be seen in photos, it is very small) and one line of writing stating an acquisition date of "fall 1957." Otherwise the seams are intact, the color is great, the text is highly legible.
Record: NM, with no signs of wear other than spindle wear on one side, with the other side of the record likely never played. The label is bright yellow with black lettering and has deep grooves. This is the MONO edition.
This is an amazing copy of the record, definitely a collectible.

I am a university professor of music here in the US who inherited this and other records (Blue Note, Norgran, Impulse!, Columbia, Prestige, Fantasy, Riverside, etc.) from a collector and former radio DJ a few years back. I am looking to sell off some of these records to collectors/audiophiles who can get more enjoyment out of them than I can.

Thanks for looking.
