Description
Three Lead Belly 78 (10 inch) shellac records from three different record companies in a case for the “Songs by Lead Belly Accompanied by Sonny Terry” album.
The three records are:
1) Asch 343-3. The A side is “On A Monday” and the B side is “John Henry.” Both tracks feature Sanders Terry on harmonica. This record is chipped at the edge. I did not play test it but it looks like it has some pull marks, hairlines and light signs of use. No heavy scratches, decent luster.
2) Stinson 715. The A side is “I’ve Got a Pretty Flower” (featuring Josh White) and the B side is “Outskirts of Town” featuring Sonny Terry. Needle marks, hairlines, faint scratches, record is a bit dull and worn. I play tested it and there is a loud hissing noise through which the music can be heard. Not sure if it is my needle or the record player or the record.
3) Musicraft 223. This record is by far in the best condition. Almost no signs of play. Nice luster. A little dust buildup which could be cleaned off easily. A tiny little chip at the edge in the dead wax area on the outside edge. It doesn’t look like this record was played much at all. Side A: “Frankie and Albert” (first half). Side B: Looky Looky Yonder, Black Betty, Yallow Women’s Door, Bells. I also play tested this and there is a loud hiss. Again, not sure if it is my set up or the record itself. Otherwise this record looks almost unplayed.
Buyer also gets the case for the “Songs by Lead Belly” album on Asch records. This case is currently holding the three 78s.
From what I can tell, the Musicraft 223 record is the most desirable and luckily it is in fantastic condition.
