Original British Telecom Telemessage Letter From Marc Almond (Soft Cell)


This is an original Telemessage from Marc Almond to Johnny Waller At The Sounds Music Newspaper In London. Dated Tuesday 9th August 1983.

This Telemessage was sent at a time when Soft Cell were still active and had released the album "The Art Of Falling Apart". A single from the album "Numbers" had come out in February 1983 and had only reached no.25. Its possible that Marc was feeling a bit low at this time and that's why he messaged Johnny Waller with the request  "I hope Sue phones.. sob sob sob I just can't go on".


Johnny Waller was an author of 'Sweet Dreams: The Definitive Biography of Eurythmics' (1985) and frequent contributor to the weekly pages of the UK music press such as Sounds, New Musical Express, Record Mirror & Zig Zag.  Relocating to London he co-founded Fire Records and also ran a photo agency there. He was tragically killed in a bicycle accident in Islington, London on October 8th 1996 aged only 40.
