Description
Record is mostly VG+. No cracks or scratches in the acetate. Dated 5-7-70 on the sleeve. It appears that this was part of a proposed giveaway 8 track tape that would go along with 1970/1971 Pontiac cars. I don't think this was ever produced. I spent about 20 minutes trying to find the produced version and couldn't find one. If you know, I am curious now....
I believe this reference recording was the approval record for the Pontiac execs to approve here in the Detroit area. It also looks like it has some audio balance levels notated on it. It came from a Detroit estate sale, along with another one (see my other items).
If you are not familiar with acetates, they are not vinyl. This is a metal record produced by the record company with a very thin film of vinyl covering it that is only to approve the record. It is not meant to be played and played. On the upside, these were usually cut directly from the master recording by the label, so the audio can by very good, and sometimes the songs themselves are different takes/cuts than the commercially produced version.
This is more of a rare piece of Pontiac nostalgia / history than anything else. It would be a great display for someone who shows a 1970 GTO Judge or a 1971 Trans Am or Lemans!
Among the song titles were popular favorites of the day such as
Fred Neil - Everybody's Talkin'
Grand Funk Railroad - Nothing Is The Same
Quicksilver Messenger Service - Gold and Silver
and many more....see photos for titles
