Description

Ultra Rare Surf/Garage Rock 45 RPM from Providence, Rhode Island by the Montereys from 1965: “Blast Off”/“You Never Cared”. This white label promotional item is in VG+ condition.

“Blast Off” is a fantastic instrumental. “You Never Cared” is an average 1960s garage rock ballad. The condition on “Blast Off” is slightly better than the flip side.

The group: A quartet from nearby Cranston, RI, they consisted of Michael Russo III (lead guitar, vocals), Carmine Albano (organ), Morris LeBelle (bass), Lou Pazienza (saxophone), David Tancredi (drums).

Provenance: This copy was found in the archives of Planet label owner Ray Muffs in Providence and obtained from a Massachusetts collector who purchased Muffs’ old stock and acetates and subsequently died in 2024.
