Description

Rare Ron Rush Acetate / One of a Kind Unreleased Soul 45 Rpm / Seaquence / Hear.

Ron Rush and the Nobles

This is the only copy of this never released Ron Rush 45. This is an acetate and there’s an interesting story behind it. Ron Rush is a legendary San Diego funk / soul musician. He’s got some classic Northern Soul 45s, Cloudy For Me / Cold Cold ManBut he’s also got the Brothers Aquarius and Rush and Gross. And then he’s got the funk bases covered with Mix Phase and Disco Thing.

The early records are some really impossible to find 45s. I met Ron a few years back and he’s got his personal copies that he clutches tighter than an old southern lady clutches her pearls on a night time walk, but doesn’t know where to find any other copies. I was at his house yesterday and we were looking for some records in every nook and cranny and I found this acetate under a bookcase. Literally. Next to a Madonna 12” and a Seaquence album cover. I asked what it was and he said it was the first thing he ever recorded. I asked if he wanted to put it out into the universe. He said “it’ll do better out there than under this bookcase.

Fair enough. So I’m selling this on behalf of the man himself. His style developed a lot since this acetate. And it’s in rough shape because it’s been under a bookcase for lord knows how many years. But it plays with one brief jump. I didn’t make much effort to clean it. I know acetates are fragile and I didn’t wanna do anything more than listen to it once and record it for him and myself.

It’s got a bit of a historical significance as far as San Diego is concerned. He’s released some legendary records in this town and this is where it started.

Here’s audio so you know what you’re getting.
