Description
This auction is for a rare 8" diameter single-sided 45 RPM Mono acetate LP by the famous 1960's rock group The Association. It is labeled "Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies." It also has a date of 9-14-66 and a recording time of 3:20. This song was on the group's 1967 LP "Renaissance." I found this album along with four other Association acetates that I have also put up on eBay at this time. I beleive that some of these recordings might be very rare, as there are mention of alternate versions on some of the labels. please check out my other auctions for these records! Due do the delicate nature of acetates, I have not tried to play them, but they all look like they are in at least VG++ condition and would play great. If you have any questions, please ask! On Mon Jul 28 19:09:22 PDT 2003, seller added the following information: I have been contacted by former Association band member Jules Alexander who has informed me that this record is "THE" first demo record for "Along Comes Mary" and probably the only one in existence. He said that this was the very record he heard in 1966 that made him say he wanted to use it for his band, The Association. He told me:"What I think is on the acetate is the recording that I played on for the publishing company that published "Mary", along with the writer, Tandyn Almer on keyboard and I can't remember who on bass."
Jules also said that:
"The 'Curt' is Curt Boettcher, producer of the track, and later the producer of The Assoc.. I think at the time Curt and Tandyn were sharing a house, along with a small rock and roll army, so they made only one acetate for them to share."
That would make this acetate THE ONLY original demo recording for this classic song!
On Mon Jul 28 19:19:18 PDT 2003, seller added the following information: MY MISTAKE: I meant to add that bit above to the description for the "Along Comes Mary" Acetate I also have up for auction at this time, not the auction for this acetate.Jules Alexander told me that this recording of "Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies" was a rare demo as well, done prior to the recording that made it on the record. He told me:
"What you hear on the acetate is a woman named Jo Ellen Shaddock, I think Jerry Shepp (It was a long time ago), someone whose name I can’t remember, and myself."
He also told me that this is one demo that is "Better than the record!"
