Description
Original issue of the rare Thelonius Monk live October 4, 1970 concert "In Tokyo" on (Toshiba) Express EP-8010. This recording was issued only in Japan and not intended for export: thus, the liner notes are all in Japanese and there is no insert: it should not be confused with other Monk recordings from Japan that have been reissued many times. The record surface appears to be flawless, unplayed, though it has probably been played once. The cover is bright and clean, front and back: very slight ring wear on front; minor rubbing to top and bottom seam; ¼" wear on bottom seam, at opening.
This late recording in Monk's career is the only commercially issued vinyl document of this quartet's personnel: Monk, Paul Jeffrey, Larry Ridley, and Lenny McBrowne.
