Description
Being heartily sick and tired of eBay sellers using extreme hyperbole to oversell vinyl records ("ultra" this, "mega" that, "awesome" the other) I have decided to undersell this one instead and simply state the facts. Hopefully these will speak for themselves.
This copy of Led Zeppelin's second album is a wholly original 1st pressing with the "Lemon Song" credit and A2/B2 matrices. It features the red/plum Atlantic label on heavy vinyl, the E.J. Day heavy matte card gatefold sleeve, and the inner sleeve with the warning that: "Plastic bags can be dangerous. To avoid danger of suffocation keep this bag away from babies and children". It also has the original lighter brown sleeve colour which was later replaced by a much darker shade.
However, this is an album which does show where it's been since 1969. The cover can only be rated as good, having a great deal of visble wear on both sides and the spine. It also has the initials TP marked inside. (I have taken great care to show all of this in my images). But fortunately the actual record is in very much better shape and can safely be rated as excellent. The vinyl is bright and shiny, there are very few surface marks and no scratches, and of these the most noticeable mark is the one you always get when the vinyl comes off the press. It tracks and plays perfectly, with very little surface noise and no clicks, and the audio quality is like new, plus there are no spindle marks on either of the two labels which are in great shape.
When this album was first released in '69 I had it pre-ordered, but sadly my personal copy went missing somewhere along the line which is not too surprising considering the way my life was in those crazy days of dope and acid and flower power. However, this copy has much the same history being a completely original and genuine item from that same era. Not the prettiest cover in the world, but the album plays beautifully which is perhaps more important.
A little piece of progressive rock history from one of the most influential rock bands of all time. Highly prized, much sought after, and highly collectible. So here's your chance if you don't already have it.
Perhaps someone out there has a poor record with a really tidy sleeve? This would make a great marriage.........!
