Based on what I have read, it appears to have been given out to Oldsmobile dealers during the 1928/1929 Christmas season.

NOTE1: It is extremely important that you do your own research on this item. I believe this to be an extremely rare recording based on what I have read on the Internet, but I strongly recommend that you confirm the statements below before bidding on/purchasing this item.

I have included both photos and scans of the record so please review them for the item's condition. Look closely because on first glance, the pictures and scans appear to show the record to be in better condition than it actually is.  It is difficult to get a clear accurate photo of the record's black surface. There are a number of grey spots in the black recorded area that appear to be some accumulation of dust/age etc... (They are more noticeable on the scan of the reverse side)  However, there are no major flaws (cracks, gouges) that I can see. Also, I no longer have a player that is capable of playing 78's, but when I did, I played the record and it plays through without skipping, but I remember it to be consistently “Scratchy” sounding with some Pops and hisses.

NOTE2: The sleeve included with the record is almost certainly NOT original, but it is the sleeve that the record was in when I acquired it.

When checking on the Internet for information related to this recording, I searched Google using the following words:

Below is some of what is written about this recording. (I believe the references to “Bix” below are actually referring to “Bix Beiderbeck”.)

On one site (Paraphrased where appropriate):
(2005) – It is an unknown Bix item. On this special Holiday Victor pressing for Oldsmobile 1928-29, Victor uses the "In My Merry Oldsmobile" (fox trot) (38268-1) fades down for the speech by I. J. Rueter, President of Olds, then concludes resuming the Goldkette record. This could be one of the first commercial overdubs and fades as well.
The reverse side of the disc is blank with the Victor logo embossed on it.
It is believed to be the rarest of the Bix 78's. Nobody realizes this is a Bix item.

(2007) - Here's a gorgeous rarity...
It's not the most exciting record to listen to, though. That's the Jean Goldkette version of In My Merry Oldsmobile (with an all-but-inaudible Bix Beiderbecke in there) sampled at the beginning of this side. Then President Reuter delivers a pep-talk, painting a rosy picture for the upcoming year 1929. There's a reprise of the Goldkette record...which ends abruptly...no fade. It's one-sided, with a typical Victor "spider web" on the flip.
