Rare Winston Churchill  16" Transcription Discs 

1946 visit to Columbia University




Winston Churchill visited Columbia University on March 18, 1946, to accept an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. During the historic visit, he delivered a well-received address inside Low Memorial Library to a crowd of roughly 11,000 people, despite protests taking place outside.


These five 16" discs contain various parts of the program...  music interludes, assorted guest speakers, Churchill, as well as some Columbia students setting up the recording/broadcast.  


These recordings are very noisy, but otherwise in good shape.
