Set of 12-inch Test Pressings of March 4, 1925 Inauguration and Speech of President Calvin Coolidge
7-Part 78rpm Recording... Columbia Master Pressings Recorded by Columbia Records on March 4, 1925, by direct lines via WEAF 12-inch Vinyl Pressings ... 7 Parts on 4 Discs, as follows...
Part 1 is single sided - matrix 51775 Parts 2 and 3 are pressed back-to-back - mx. 51776 / 51777 Parts 4 and 5 are pressed back-to-back - mx. 51778 / 51779 Parts 6 and 7 are pressed back-to-back - mx. 51780 / 51781 (Part 7 is conclusion of Inaugural Address)
Part 1 begins with 30+ seconds of quiet, crowd murmuring, until apparent Radio Technician says "We're Ready"... ... more quiet, then Chief Justice William H. Taft strongly and forcefully speaks the Oath of Office to President Coolidge (Note: This is the only electrical recording of Ex-President Taft, who was then Chief Justice of The Supreme Court) ... after short silence, President Coolidge begins his Inaugural Address... Parts 2 thru 7 continue President Coolidge's Address (Parts 2 thru 7 all have Master Number, Date, "Coolidge" and Part Number engraved in outer edge before grooves begin) Part 7 also has "Conclusion" engraved with other information. - Following conclusion of address, Military Band strikes up and quickly plays "Hail To The Chief" twice.
Records are E+ to N- condition. (Part 1 has some brief "thumping" before sound begins - from original metal master.)
