Alco -Threads Of Life - Rare Private Issue
My brother in law Ben Brooke was a member of the band and now lives
in the USA. This copy was given to his brother (my hubby) on it's
release and has always been in his possession and played only a few
times. We can also get at a later stage for the buyer more info from the original band members who still get together and who we know very well.
We are now wanting to sell to someone who has been searching for this
rare vinyl to add to their collection. It will be better with them than sitting in a box in our study.
Press progressive album. Recorded by the band Alco at University of Surrey Mobile Studio in 1972. A-Side contains a wonderful progressive suite, including sections augumented with the Itchen Orchestra conducted by Jonathan Palmer. B-side is just Alco themselves who are Tim Caesar – keyboards and lead vocals, Paul Fidlin – bass / lead / vocals, Ben Brooke – lead / bass / vocals and Julian Caesar, drums, / synthesizer / vocals. There are some tracks by the Itchen College Barbershop Shoppers at the end. Tracks are

Vinyl in a very good condition. Shiny
Jacket is in a good condition with no imprint of the record inside but the sides have come unstuck as the glue has dried.
Inner white paper jacket in good condition.

Going on the vinyl grading site I would say this vinyl is excellent+.
This album which is extremely rare has only appeared on ebay twice in the last 6 years selling for £1,717 last year.Alco - Threads Of Life LP, catalogue number ALC 530. Impossibly rare private press prog, this album, which was recorded at the University Of Surrey Mobile Studio in 1972 with the Itchen Orchestra, almost never shows up online, or anywhere for that matter! This is a stunning copy, with both vinyl and sleeve in beautiful NEAR MINT condition. The vinyl is in pristine unplayed condition, with no surface/spindle marks and clean labels. Laminate sleeve has only some minor creases around the spine, but other than that is unmarked. Extremely hard to find, this album last appeared on Ebay 5 years ago!
