Description

Ravel DAPHNIS & CHLOE - RCA LSC1893 Munch/Boston Symphony Orchestra - Classic Records 4LP 45rpm Single Sided Pressing SEALED and near mint!
Here's your chance to get this out of print rarity at a fair market price!
Condition: There are two very small bumps to the rear jacket (please see Pictures 3 and 4). Something worth noting: When Classic Records first started to issue single-sided 45 rpm pressings, they put each LP in its own cover and individually wrapped them. For the NEXT phase of their 45rpm editions (when this title was issued), they still put each LP into its own cover, but shrinkwrapped the whole set as one LP package. For the final phase, they wised up from a cost perspective and put Record 1 in its own cover, and then used generic white covers for the other LPs.

ABOUT 45 RPM PRESSINGS

While some folks don't like the 45 RPM format (yes, you do have to get up and change sides more often), it's not hype: with more vinyl real estate for your stylus to operate within, volume levels are maintained consistently across all tracks (with 33 1/3, as you get closer to the inner groove you will lose volume because the grooves get smaller), and there's LOTS more room for the bass frequencies. A mastering engineer has to juggle all these factors, usually leading to certain compromises, when pressing at 33 1/3. The common wisdom in the audiophile community is that, when done well, 45 rpm pressings are as close as you'll get to the master tape.

ABOUT SINGLE SIDED PRESSINGS

While pressing at 45 RPM raises the sonic bar, one might still confront the sonic compromises introduced when an LP is pressed on both sides, which is the norm. When records are issued on very thin vinyl, the grooves pressed on one side of an lp can microscopically impress themselves on the other side of the record, introducing unwanted audio artifacts. This is why audiophile labels favor 180 gram or heavier vinyl. Consequently, Classic Records reissued certain titles on SINGLE SIDED pressings, at 45 RPM, in order to produce the most accurate rendition of the master tape possible.

About Me: I'm a long time Ebay buyer intent on selling a significant portion of my LP collection over the next year or two (or three!). I believe in the auction process, so I'm NOT going to list records at absurdly high prices, and I look forward to getting rare, out of print records into the hands of music lovers, record collectors and audiophiles (I consider myself all of the above). All LPS stored in a smoke-free, climate controlled environment.

Please check my feedback and BID WITH CONFIDENCE. Also, please take a look at other items I'm listing (including Buy-It-Now, high quality titles at bargain prices), and good luck!
