Ray Charles / Phil Flowers Rare R&B Soul 45 Walkin' & Talkin' I Can't Stop Loving You by Phil Flowers Bonus Records - 7019 45 RPM black vinyl
This is a super-rare Ray Charles / Phil Flowers record. A split single from 1962. I came across this at an estate sale and have been holding on to it until I had a good 45 mailer to send it in. Now that I'm confident I can mail this safely I'm ready to let it go. I gave it a listen today and my first thought was that I wanted to keep it for myself. A great little step back in time to a solid soul era. The sleeve shows a young Ray Charles (same image on both sides) and both the vinyl and sleeve are in great shape. The music sounded ever so slightly slow or something at first but that issue was fine when I adjusted the 45 +/- dial on the TT.
I'm starting the bidding high since I've seen the sleeve for this single alone go for $52. I figure the sleeve and the disk in such great shape will be worth at least that to the lucky collecter who ends up with this one. I'd keep this myself, but I think it's worth more to a rare soul collector. I'm not sure if this is considered Rare Northern Soul, but I've seen it on a Rare Northern Soul website. There really isn't a lot of information to be found about this record, but some is out there, otherwise copies of this one are scarce.
Condition: Vinyl: I can confidently call this VG+, and that is being cautious since I'm still only a few months into selling records. The disk is clean with no scratches or significant marks. The playback was uninterrupted, no skips, etc. The only issue was the slow speed that I had to accomodate; I read in a different post of this record that someone suspected the press was slightly off center. That is beyond my expertise, if you have questions about my description please feel free to contact me.
VG+: May have some slight wear or loss of luster but no significant scratches or marks. Light surface noise present but no pops or crackle.
Sleeve: Sleeve is in great shape with some very slight ringwear, otherwise it has been carefully stored. I've been keeping my sleeve ratings to descriptions (no grade). There is minor wear to the edges but no major creases. It is flat and clean and looks great and well cared for is a 50 year old.
Shipping: US: This will be mailed carefully out of sleeve in a cardboard 45 mailer with an extra piece of cardboard padding. Media mail. Any other mailing requests, please message.
International: International shipping will be the same cardboard 45 mailer, but placed in a flat rate US Priority Legal sized mailing envelope.
Any other questions, please message me. Thanks.
