Description
A must for Ray Anthony fans. Trumpeter-bandleader Ray talks about and then is heard playing his biggest hits as he recalls these hits and his career going back to when he was a member of the Glenn Miller orch. in this designed for a four-hour radio broadcast from 1987. These are rare discs as they were only pressed for the radio stations which carried this show, "The Great Sounds." Probably less than 300 discs were pressed. Packaged in a neat custom over-sized jacket to hold four LPs plus programming information. Ray plays and talks about the following tunes: Peter Gunn, Skokiaan, Stars Fell on Alabama, Count Every Star, Nevertheless, The Bunny Hop, At Last, Moonlight Saving Time, Sentimental Me, Harbor Lights, The Man With a Horn, Dragnet. These shows were designed in a magazine format that also featured special guests talking about their hits. In this show they are: Astrud Gilberto (singing So Nice), Art Lund (singing Blue Skies with Benny Goodman orch.), Bea Wain (singing Martha with Larry Clinton orch.) and Harry Babbitt (singing Who Wouldn't Love You with Kay Kyser orch.).
