This is an incredible recording…I’m so impressed with it, having not played it for 30 years or more. Red swings his AS* off!!!...and the sound….OMG!….Rudy, Rudy, Rudy….you were such a recording genius…RIP

The Album
The album for sale is the MONO Red Garland Trio Prestige 7139
Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder at his home in Hackensack, NJ on April 11, 1958. Red Garland (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), Art Taylor (drums) and Ray Barretto (conga).
The Vinyl
The vinyl has been play graded to be VG+. There are no marks on the vinyl, and there are only three faint clicks in Cut 2 on Side 2. There are no spindle hole marks, and the spindle hole is tight and unworn. The vinyl is in excellent condition, and sounds like its never been played, although I know that it has been, but only a very few times.
The Label
The label is one of the first yellow and black “Fireworks” Prestige labels with ‘446 W. 50th ST., N.Y.C.’ that was used from 1955-58. Also has ‘HI Fidelity’, and is a ‘Microgroove’ LP. Van Gelder initials ‘RVG’ is machine stamped on the run-out.
The Album Cover
The Cover, front and back are in NM condition. There is very slight wear on the bottom corner of the printed spine. Also the name of the original owner is written on the back cover near the top right side.
My Rating Standards:
Album Cover
M Absolutely perfect; no corner wear, marks, tears, dents, impressions from the vinyl disc, or other flaws.
NM Very minor signs or cover impressions. Artwork is close to perfection.
VG++ Minor disc impression or slight corner creases, no wrinkles, puckers, seam splits, or writing on the cover. Artwork is clean and unworn, and there is no ink wear.
VG+ Cover is clean but may have minor writing or marks and may show slight wear. There may be just the start of ring wear, where the disc has created a raised area on the cover that resulted in the ink wearing off the paper. There may be slight discoloration or staining, minor seam wear, but no splits or tears. Corners may have small creases or fraying.
Vinyl
VG++ Vinyl disc plays near perfectly, and may have minor paper scuffs that do not degrade the sound quality.
VG+ Some visible surface wear, minor scratches and scuffs, with minimal impact on the sound quality.
