Description
This is part of a big auction full of 1950's blues and R&B 45's that I'm running this week. This time the last 25+ Excello records as well as several from End, Robin, Atco and some great bonus listings as always.
Here's the info on this item:
Release: Allen Bunn - My Kinda Woman / Too Much Competition
Format: 45 rpm 7" single
Year: 1953
Notes: Original red label first pressing. Tough to find record by an obscure bluesman, one of only two he ever released under this name (the 78rpm version credits him as Allen Baum), before he adopted the name Tarheel Slim. This one is classic, southern guitar blues. Very reminiscent of what you'd hear in the 30's & 40's, but with a little dash of electric guitar.
Vinyl Condition: VG, Too Much side has some extensive odd surface damage. Not sure what could have caused this. It's unusual and seems mostly cosmetic. That side plays much better than it looks. Plays with some crackle in spots, but still an enjoyable listen. The noise never overpowers the music. Kinda side has much less wear, but still has some. Other than a couple very brief crackles, this side plays great. Label has some scuffing on Too Much, much better on the other side. No idea what to grade this, so I'm going with VG. Maybe a VG-, maybe a G+, it's just an odd one to grade. Tough record to find though and would be a good budget to fill a hole in your collection.
Thanks for looking and keep an eye on my store as well. Due to vacation plans, I'm swapping out my Jazz auction to run in late Feb. I keep finding cool stuff and haven't gotten it all sorted out. A 60's rock auction after that with a bunch of picture sleeves.
I want buying from me to be a good experience for you. I also know that condition can be very subjective, so I encourage you to see pics for exact condition details and ask questions if you need additional information. As always, the item you see is the one you will get. Please see my feedback, I think that will show that I am an accurate and fair grader and make sure my customers are happy.
I will combine shipping for anyone who wins more than one item. If you do need combined shipping, please wait for an invoice before paying.
