Item Description:MAHLER: Das Lied von der Erde - Richard Lewis, tenor/Maureen Forrester, contralto/Chicago Symphony Orchestra/ Fritz Reiner - RCA Victor Living Stereo 2 lp box w insert, shaded dog label original. 3 sides are clearly 1S stampers, side 1 however seems to have been a 2S stamper that had a 1 etched over the 2.
This particular copy was in effect a promo, being from the collection of a prominent critic, which probably explains why the ad stickers that would have normally been on the outside of the shrink are glued onto the front and rear covers. The fact that these stickers are present in any form is amazing. Unlike a regular lp,a box set can not be used and also kept in shrink, therefore it is most likely that unless a copy has been kept unopened for 50 years, these are the only examples of these stickers that will ever be offered for sale.
RCA Victor LSC-6087Condition Of Cover: Box would be VG++ but for a break to top, small peel rear,w the advert stickers glued on front and rear as noted
w company inners, and NM foldout insert sheet
Condition Of Records:Visually NM except side 3 has some light scuffs. There may be some light surface noise in play on the quieter passages.Comments: Beautiful and very rare item, gorgeous sound!
