Description
This is the vinyl picture disc of the soundtrack to the classic 1985 horror flick “The Return of the Living Dead.” It has the original die-cut cardboard sleeve with track listing and movie credits on the back, and plastic bag insert for the album. There’s also a sales flyer for Enigma Records, with EC Comics-style jokes by “Fuad Ramses” of the Enigma Mailorder department, plus a RotLD T-shirt order form on the back.
The disc has a photo on each side: a skull-faced zombie behind a headstone with the film’s title written across it; and topless Linnea Quigley as Trash (photo redacted by me).
The punk/hard rock/psychobilly tracks are as follows:
SIDE ONE
Surfing’ Dead - The Cramps
Partytime (zombie version) - 45 Grave
Nothing for You - TSOL
Eyes Without a Face - The Flesheaters
Burn the Flames - Roky Erickson
SIDE TWO
Dead Beat Dance - The Damned
Take a Walk - Tall Boys
Love Under Will - The Jet Black Berries
Tonight (We’ll Make Love Until We Die) - SSQ
Trash’s Theme - SSQ
There are also clips of dialogue from the film between songs, such as (if memory serves) “Are you on drugs? Are you on PCP?!?”
The album has been stashed away among other albums for over thirty years. I have not listened to it, or attempted to clean it. There are some scuffs on the disc but I don’t see any egregious scratches, but the first track on one side has what appears to be a tiny chip. Given that the grooves are so shallow as to be almost non-existent, I’d say this is a display piece (for the Linnea pic, of course) rather than something you’ll be cranking on the hi-fi and rocking out to. See pics for condition of sleeve, definitely well worn but not trashed.
