Arguably Wilson’s best, most sought after LP. Joined by John Manning on tenor, Melvin Sparks on guitar & Tommy Derrick. Good ol’ organ-driven soul jazz with some funk grooves. I’m a jazz head through and through but for what it’s worth, Reuben Wilson’s titles are quite approachable - this being the most so (in my opinion.) Great, classic cover art (taped around the perimeter but in tact / no risk of tearing) even though it’s faded and worn a bit (back of sleeve is also worn and includes some staining).
The vinyl is in ‘G’ condition. Areas of heavy scratching, which definitely generate fuzz / noise in the playback. My playtests have yielded no skips, as there are no ‘feelers’. But the scratches are there and there is an effect on the sound. It’s tolerable to me, but everyone has different preferences, please ask more photos if you’re feeling skeptical - it isn’t a pretty play copy but for an original pressing, might be worth it if you can tolerate a bit of fuzz.
