Description
Revolver by the Beatles.
UK mono withdrawn first pressing to the best of my knowledge.
According to Beatles legend, the very first 600 (?) copies of this album were pressed pre release but hastily withdrawn when George Martin/John Lennon realised they contained the *wrong mix of Tomorrow Never Knows (which came to be subsequently known as mix 11)
Those that did sell were generally those that were pre ordered & are generally the most sought after copies of this landmark disk.
Intriguingly on discogs.com the only copies sold were in Garrod & Lofthouse sleeves but this one is in an E J Day one which seems to make it something of a double anomaly- I've got no reason to doubt that it's the original sleeve. There are generally of slightly superior quality due to them using thicker card.
Visually the only difference is that side B has the matrix 606 1 - subsequently this changed to -2 & later -3 I think.

XEX 605 2 / 606 1
Firstly the record:
Visually both labels are clean & unmarked but show moderate spindle wear.
Both playing surfaces have light marks & there is a more significant scratch at the start of side A. It is slightly grubby & would benefit from a pro clean.
I've play tested the record & for the most part it sounds lovely with no skips or jumps & without significant deterioration in sound. However the aforementioned scratch does cause clicks through the second half of Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, I'm Only Sleeping & Love to You.
Secondly, the sleeve:
In great condition. Strong, undamaged & clean with a wonderfully sharp spine & pretty decent corners. The pictures tell a thousand words. The only particular flaws are that under direct light you can see that someone has leant on the back of the sleeve to write a letter in ballpoint but personally I wouldn't say it's terribly notable. There is also a single small word written on the top flipback but it's sufficiently small & faint that I can't actually make out what it reads.
I think the Patents Applied For/Made in Great Britain inner sleeve is probably original & it's clean & tidy too.
Further notes:
K T tax code on side A;
Mother/stampers 5 RM on side A; 1 OR on side B (I think);
Dr. Robert on label & sleeve.
In summary a better than average copy of one of the ultimate Beatles collectables - priced to actually sell unlike a lot of other listings which start at £300 or something ridiculous like that.
Offers welcome.
I post promptly and securely second class to keep costs down and I sometimes use recycled packaging.
Polite disclaimer:
If you don't have the means to pay for a bid within 48 hours of sale then please let me know before bidding.
Also if you intend making an offer but you have further questions about the items for sale, then you should ask them *prior to making that offer. By making an offer you are committed to the sale should the retailer accept it as per eBay terms and conditions. Sorry to have to mention this but I've suffered some frankly rotten buying etiquette recently.
Domestic or GSP buyers only please.
Check out my feedback, bid with confidence, & thanks for looking
