FROM RATE YOUR MUSIC A debut album by RIblja Corba is by it's nature seminal record in ex YU musical history. While every one was moving toward new wave, punk bands were preparing their debute albumes Corba simingly went the other way. Hard rock and bules rock are the words that comes to mind when you listen to it. But, there is a hint of punk in there: Rock'n'roll za kućni savet, Hej ćale, Egoista all have simple cords progresions and upbeat tempo punk bends of that time would not be against recording. Lyrics wise: well Bora was great poet even before this album so they hit, most of them. "Pozajmila je pare poludela je skroz kupila je kartu i sela je u voz", "Rasprodaja bola" and maybe "Mirno spavaj" feel like filers, but are offset by "Rock'n'roll za kućni savet", "Ostani đubre do kraja", "Još jedan šugav dan" and "Zvezda potkrovlja i suterena" which are classics to this day. Album sold 120k copies, comparable or above what New Wave bands were selling at that time and critics loved it. It was pulled in 1998 as the 16th on the list of 100 greatest Yugoslav rock and pop albums and that says a lot. In my opinion it is their best album, everything else since feels derivative.
