Description

redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This superb LP from Decca (ECS 670 “Eclipse” series, English pressing, purple/silver label, stereo) features Ruggiero Ricci's stunning accounts of Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole Op. 21 and Ravel's Tzigane, both recorded on 27/28 March 1959 in the rich acoustics of Geneva's Victoria Hall with Ernest Ansermet conducting the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.

Ricci plays with enormous personality, both performances shot through with an extrovert Spanish heat and swagger that is irresistible – Ansermet and the OSR accompany him to the hilt and the sound is of demonstration quality – a landmark in the violin discography.

This album was produced by James Walker and engineered by Roy Wallace. There are brief liner notes (uncredited), as well as a listing of other Eclipse titles on the reverse side of the jacket, - all texts in English only. The striking cover photo is similarly uncredited.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the front laminated jacket is EXCELLENT. There is minor wear and discoloration along the open edge, as well as mild shelfwear, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector’s copy.

The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.
