Description
Hard to find Richard Stevensen LP: Gates Of Me. 1970 UK first pressing on the PYE label. Cat No: NSPL 18358. A1; B1. matrix numbers on vinyl run off. Textured sleeve has some corner wear; partial ring wear, and some very small areas of light discolouration. Sleeve graded EX. Vinyl has clean labels and no spindle wear. The small white mark near the spindle on side one is from paper lift and not wear to the spindle. There are a couple of light marks that are only visible when held at an angle to a bright light. Only a couple of barely audible light background. Superb vinyl pressing. Vinyl graded Near Mint.
This obscure folk orientated, guitar LP was originally the very first album released on the DAWN label (DNLS 3011), and credited to Richard Stevenson. It was pressed for export only. The website that lists and illustrates all the LP`s released on the label does not have a photo of this record, as is only the case for other albums that were withdrawn prior to release. In addition to the PYE cat. no, the vinyl run off on both sides of record have the DAWN DNLS 3011 that has been lined out, whilst the DAWN logo is clearly visible on the rear of the cover. I am not sure if the recording was originally due for a UK release on DAWN and then switched to PYE, or if it indeed had an export release. Any information is most welcome.
