Oronzo De Filippi AS Awake- Aspetti Sociali

Italian pressing, Vroommm VRL 601 (~1970)

After recording his masterpiece "Meccanizzazione", Oronzo (or Rino) De Filippi made this ultra rare obscure gem on the super sought after Vroommm label out of Milan (actually the very first release of the label!).

Lp is a totally superb record, if you have ever heard Meccanizzazione, expect something in the same style but more complete and more refined.

 

This is one of the best example of Italian library. A concept Lp basically set up on jazz absorbing many different influences. Has that late 60's Italian industrial feeling (see Meccanizzazione) with obsessive and repetitive sounds but always keeping a smooth and sweet melodic line. Complex and intriguing harpsicord and organs patterns with hallucinogen synthesizer solos, hypnotic flutes intervenes over loads of different rolling drums rhythms. From classic bossa tickings to odd jazz tempos to catchy funky patterns with even a few clean drum breaks!
