Riptides ORIG AUS Sealed Red Vinyl LP Tombs of Gold 2014 New Wave
Riptides
Tombs of goldOriginal OZ Sealed Limited Red Vinyl LP released in 2014 on IS Music.
Arriving in Sydney from Brisbane in 1980, The Riptides soon established themselves in the city's thriving live music scene, drawing big crowds and gaining a reputation as one of the country's best live acts. They signed a recording deal but broke up before their debut album was finished and released. A posthumous compilation was released but it was just that - a compilation of different recordings and mixes, and never represented what the band was about, live or on record. Now, 30 years later, the original multitrack recordings have been re-discovered, transferred to digital format and then completely re-mixed from the ground up by renowned producer Rick Will (No Doubt, Johnny Cash, Dave Matthews, Hunters And Collectors, etc.). The outcome has been spectacular: the record sounds authentic but fresh; energy leaps from the tracks as digital mixing technology meets 80's analogue recording techniques. Recorded in sessions between 1981 and 1983, singles and an EP were released but the album was never mixed properly... until now. The CD contains the 13 tracks on the vinyl album plus an additional 8 Bonus tracks. Available in a strictly limited edition of only 200 in Gold vinyl and 300 in Black vinyl.
