General Information
This 12-inch vinyl LP record presents an original release of the debut studio album by British rock band Rainbow. This release closely coincides with Ritchie Blackmore’s departure from Deep Purple in March 1975. The high-fidelity stereo sound quality of this outstanding record is sure to impress any music lover that savors the music from Blackmore, Ronnie James Dio, and Rainbow during this time period. This original release was manufactured and distributed in the USA by Polydor Incorporated in 1975. This pressing is one variant of a number of original pressing in 1975. The catalog number is PD 6049. The two indications on each of the record labels and the etched/stamped indications on each of the runouts are as follows (respectively): SIDE 1: PD 6049 (2391 190) and PD-6049-AS- PRC-2-1-1 KENDUN-B PRC THE WASP; and SIDE 2: PD 6049 (2391 190) and PD-6049-BS- PRC-2-1-11 KENDUN-B PRC. All of the runout indications are etched with the exception of the stamped “KENDUN B” indicating that the mastering and lacquer cut were performed by Kendun Recorders in Burbank, California. The symbol “PRC” is indicative of the pressing being performed by PRC Recording Company, Richmond, Indiana. A reference to Martin Birch (the producer and mixer) is shown with "THE WASP" hand-etched in the dead wax on side A. The band lineup and the song listing can be found in the photos. The gatefold original album cover and the original white inner sleeve are provided. The album has always been stored in a smoke-free home and will be shipped through USPS Media Mail.

Condition Details
The vinyl for this record is made of durable material and has been graded as Very Good Plus (VG+), ensuring that it will play well for years to come. The disc has some visible/minor scratch and scuff defects. Some record players may pick up an occasional minor pop or tick during playback; however, they are only noticeable through some of the quiet spaces between songs and some of the quieter portions of the music. In addition. there are no skips or repeats. As such, there are no distractions from the crisp playback. Accordingly, the overall sound quality is excellent. Both sides of the record were played immediately prior to creating this listing. In addition, the labels are clean and fully legible with little indication of wear, i.e., with no scuffs or scratches and some light spindle wear. The original plain white inner sleeve is fully intact and is graded as Very Good (VG). It has some minor factory-induced wrinkling, and some age-related discoloration (browning and/or yellowing). In addition, while the inner sleeve includes no seam splits or any tears, it is stained. The record will ship with a new clear anti-static polypropylene inner sleeve which is provided as a courtesy. The original album cover is fully intact and graded as VG+ due to visible ring wear and other visible wear on the front and back. The interior and exterior of the gatefold album cover has maintained most of the original glossy sheen. In addition, the cover includes some minor wear along the top and bottom seams, at the record opening, along the spine, and at the corners. There are no seam splits. The record will ship with a new clear anti-static polypropylene outer sleeve which is provided as a courtesy.
