Description
I am not a collector and am not knowledgeable about records. I have this item from the collector's vault (a closet) and it still has a musty odor if you put your nose on it.
This is a three record set designated "C3 46222 Columbia" on the edge. It is still shrink wrapped. A statement on the back states that the release was copyrighted in 1990. Discogs indicates 1990 is the release date. It also indicates that these recordings are from the original 78s with whatever shortcomings were present at the time of the original 78rpm recording. The gold label (pictured) states that the box includes all 41 known sides, comprehensive biographical notes, and rare photos. The 2 record sets I see on Ebay do not have the songs in the same order. This seems to be an item for the serious student of the genre.
From Discogs: Legendary seminal blues guitarist from Mississippi (born 08.05.1911, Hazlehurst, Mississippi - died 16.08.1938, Greenwood, Mississippi). Passed away at 27, leaving a widespread impact on music. Some of his songs have been credited to Woody Payne (2), also known as T. Colley. Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 (Early Influence). Box includes a CD sized 48 page booklet with lyrics, credits and some biographical notes about Robert Johnson, alongside essays by Eric Clapton and Keith Richards. Also includes a 'Roots n' Blues' advertising sheet and a large fold-out poster of the LP box.Discogs lists this set as at a beginning price of $48.
