Description

ONLY 200 RECORDS WERE PRESSED OF THIS ORIGINAL RECORD...HOW DO I KNOW THAT? A DOP-WOP,EARLY ROCK AND ROLL RECORD COLLECTOR FRIEND OF MINE, THAT I TRUST IMPECCABLY, TOLD ME THAT ROD BERNARD HIMSELF HAD TOLD HIM THIS!!!!

Here's the story below on this record that I found at an Estate Sale in rural St. Landry Parish, LA.

Original record - Tuff to find - Early Rod Bernard (his 1st or 2nd record.. from 1957-58)with Mike Genovese and The Twisters - All night In Jail / Set Me Free - Tiny Opelousas, Louisiana based CARL Label done in Jake’s Music Shop-RCA custom pressed.

Record and label are in poor condition(see pictures) but does play with good volume with some background noise such as snap, crackle, and pop. In the dead wax is faintly pressed the record side numbers, i.e. J8OW-1229-1 and J8OW-1230-1

In the middle 50s, Bernard organized a band named the Twisters, which included his brother Oscar and other high school mates. Newly informed by the thrilling sounds emanating out of the Crescent City - especially Fats Domino, but also Lloyd Price, Frankie Ford and Earl King - The Twisters and dozens of other south Louisiana bands modified their already rich indigenous Cajun Creole music a shade towards New Orleans.

The Twisters waxed with crude equipment two raw singles (“Linda Gail”/”Little Bitty Mama”; “All Night In Jail”/”Set Me Free” in 1957 on the tiny Carl label; both sank without trace. The next year Bernard and his group recorded the sultry ballad "This Should Go On Forever" for recordman Floyd Soileau’s JIN label of Ville Platte, Louisiana. Leased to Argo Records of Chicago, the song became a national hit in 1959, propelling Bernard onto Dick Clark's American Bandstand.

I did play the record on my amateur record player with my amateur needle
