Hello and welcome to my auction. Over the next few weeks I will be selling off the rest of my vinyl records from my own collection. I will list the records with as much accuracy and honesty as I would like to see when I am buying. I will post all records fully insured and as quickly as I can in heavy set record mailers with two spacers and the vinyl in a spare poly-lined inner. In short, it will be bomb proof! All my records have been kept in thick plastic wallets, stored upright at all times and played minimally on high grade equipment. Here we have a genuine first pressing of Rod Stewart’s Gasoline Alley released on the Vertigo label. This is the very 1st UK press on the Vertigo "large Swirl” label, with the large swirl above the spindle hole and the wording Vertigo below. As with only the very first presses the gatefold outer sleeve is unlaminated with no barcode present on the rear. The record comes complete with the first press swirled inner. Both the record and sleeve are in brilliant condition making this a superb Vertigo investment.

Outer Sleeve Condition
The first press Howards Printers printed outer sleeve is in remarkable condition for its age, looking close to brand new! The spine is perfectly straight, fully readable with no signs of rubbing or wear at all. All the edges are straight and sharp with only very mild storage wear to the corners. The inside of the textured gatefold sleeve is as sublime as the rest looking untouched. A final upgrade sleeve

Inner Sleeve Condition
The first press Vertigo swirled inner sleeve has no seam splits or writing at all. It has a little yellowing and a small tear around the inner hole other than that it’s in fine condition and holds the vinyl perfectly as it should.

Vinyl Visual Condition
At first sight the record looks unplayed retaining its original factory sheen and lustre. There are no scratches or signs of warping whatsoever. Under a strong halogen bulb, only faint signs of play can be seen with a few wispy unfeelable ghost lines that could be removals and have absolutely no playback issues

Vinyl Label Condition
The first press Vertigo labels are in sublime condition with no rips, writing or stains at all. Vertigo labels can often yellow due to being white but here they remain as white and bright as in 1970. Under a halogen bulb only the faintest of spindles can be seen that shows that it has only received a handful of plays at most.

Vinyl Audio
The record plays beautifully with no pops or crackle even on the quiet parts. It is a loud and crystal clear playback from start to finish. There is no distortion in the louder parts with a clear definition between all the different elements of the band. The dynamics of the record are so much clearer on these first presses and never more than on this record. An audiophile’s dream of a record.

So that’s it, a true 1st pressing of Gasoline Alley with 1st press matrix, Nr mint sleeve and near perfect playback. You would be hard pressed to find a better copy in all your days.
