This lovely LP – note the striking cover photo by Paul Huf – from Philips (S 04601 L, Dutch pressing, green/silver label, heavy vinyl, mono) entitled “Twilight Concert” features conductor Artur Rodzinski conducting a selection of audience favorites, some selections not otherwise obtainable.

The exact contents are as follows:

Rossini: William Tell Overture

Mendelssohn: Scherzo, from A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Liszt: Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2

Tchaikovsky: Waltz, from the Serenade for Strings in C Major Op. 48

Tchaikovsky: “None but the Lonely Heart”

Bizet: Farandole, from l’Arlesienne Suite No. 2

Debussy (arr. H. Mouton): Clair de lune, from the Suite Bergamasque

There are informative liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, provided in English only. As mentioned above, the cover photo, of model Ann Pickford, was taken by Paul Huf. The jacket design was executed by Van Borssum.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the 'softcover' jacket is GOOD. There is a somewhat crude tape repair to the lower-right corner (seamsplit), laminate lift, and corner wear. Nonetheless, the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – would still be suitable for framing.

The condition of the LP itself is VERY GOOD-. Though there is surface noise and occasional tics, in general playback remains quite fine. However, those wanting a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as a very good collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
