Description

This is where it all began and are mainly the numbers that were basically their set list from the clubs and halls at the time which they took into the studio for their first recording experience.
1964 Decca LK 4605 UK LP 'The Rolling Stones' in red label mono and is the second pressing issue of that year with the four minute take of 'Tell Me' plus the sleeve lists 'Mona' whereas the label reads 'I Need You Baby' for Track 4 of Side One.
The lamination for the front of the sleeve extends back over the spine and flipbacks. It's one of the cleanest sleeves I've seen in years because usually they're mashed! The corners, edges and mouth are pretty good and the rear has avoided the worse of the grubbiness the plain matt card normally attracts. Yet blemishes include the ever present laminate creasing and ringwear plus there's a 30cm tear at the rear mouth which I've pictured but left 'unrepaired' for the sake of originality.
So it's a strong example and I rate it 7.5 /10 for condition.
Onto the flat and bright record itself which reads 141g on my scale so is a nice medium weight. Matrices on the dead wax run-offs are XARL-6271-1A & XARL-6272-3A respectively.
Both the silver on red mono labels are nice as shown with sharp holes that show signs of a healthy number of spins.
Angling the disc in both room daylight at the window and under the table lamp I see some light scuffs and hairlines but overall it looks respectable. Visually therefore I give it 7 /10.
Next is a play test on my hi-fi. I hear some clicks and pops on the dead bands between the tracks but generally the tracks themselves play pretty well. For sound quality I reckon 7 /10 also.
99p start and the auction will run to the end.
If you're the successful bidder from outside the UK then I'll send an invoice to show the actual postage cost to your location.
