Rolling Stones, Aftermath, 1966 vinyl 12” stereo LP album, 33 rpm, Decca Records SKL4786.  British (first) version of Aftermath with three more tracks than the later United States release on London Records, as well as including “Mother’s Little Helper”, which was replaced with “Paint It Black” on the American version.  Great classic Stones album, their first LP where all tracks are Jagger/Richards original compositions.  Recorded at RCA Studios, Hollywood.  Produced by Andrew Loog Oldham.

Aftermath: "Aftermath, released in April 1966 by Decca Records, is the fourth British studio album by the Rolling Stones.  It was issued in the United States in June 1966 by London Records as the group's sixth American album.  The American version featured different cover art and a shorter running order that eliminated “Out of Time”, “Take It or Leave It”, “What to Do”, and “Mother’s Little Helper”.   All four tracks were later issued in the US on other compilations, and "Mother's Little Helper" was also issued as a single in 1966, peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard charts.  In their place, the album substituted their current No. 1 hit “Paint It, Black”.   The revamped Aftermath still reached No. 2 in the US, eventually going platinum.

The album is considered an artistic breakthrough for the band: it is the first to consist entirely of Mick Jagger-Keith Richards compositions, while Brian Jones played a variety of instruments not usually associated with their music, including sitar, Appalachian dulcimer, marimbas, and Japanese koyo, as well as guitar, harmonica and keyboards, though much of the music is still rooted in Chicago electric blues.  It was the first Rolling Stones album to be recorded entirely in the US, at the RCA Studios in California, and their first album released in true stereo.  It is also one of the earliest rock albums to eclipse the 50-minute mark, and contains one of the earliest rock songs to eclipse the 10-minute mark ("Goin' Home")." (Wikipedia)

Condition/Grading:  Not professionally graded.  I have graded to the best of my ability using Goldmine guidelines.  Grading is done by listening to LP and visually inspecting LP & cover.

LP:  Very Good Plus (VG+).  Generally very clear sound on both sides with just a few minor cracks/skips at run-on/run-off Side 1 and 2, no other skips to tracks noticed.  Light occasional audible crack/pop surface noise that does not detract from overall listening experience.  Moderate scratching to vinyl that does not generally effect playability – moderate scratching Side 1 with three deeper scratches; light to moderate scratching Side 2 with one scuff.  Clean label with no spindle wear.

Cover/Sleeve: Very Good (VG) Front very clean and bright with good gloss; back generally clean with some dust spotting and light vintage toning.  Light creases and scuffs along edges, with several deep creases near bottom middle.  2” tear at lower bottom right front.  Bottom seam is split approx. ¾ way across edge.  Light ring wear.  Original paper sleeve is clean with some creases.

Shipping Note: I have cleaned the vinyl LP with specialized vinyl groove cleaner to remove dust and dirt.  It will be shipped with a protective polyethylene album sleeve, in a sturdy cardboard LP mailer with protective inserts, for safe shipping.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE: Contact me for a shipping quote before bidding/paying because due to some late international shipments sent First Class I recommend shipping all international sales by Priority International unless requested otherwise, so that packages can be tracked for delivery.  Whenever possible international shipments will be sent Flat Rate Priority to save on shipping charges.  If you request economy First Class International for small packages please be aware that delivery time for 1st Class International shipments can vary from 3-4 days to up to up to 4-5 weeks, and that First Class International packages cannot be tracked if a package is late or lost.  Due to size, some items cannot be sent First Class International.
