Description

THE ROLLING STONES – BETWEEN THE BUTTONS – LK 4852 – MONO

Original UK 1967 early MONO pressing with red grooved label in NEAR MINT condition

EX (sleeve)/ NM (vinyl-aural) condition

A note on my approach to selling records: Listings of records on eBay often fall short on detail both visually and descriptively, which can lead to disappointment. I take revealing photos, sometimes in harsh light, so that you can actually see what you’ll get. I also describe honestly what you’ll hear. I tend to under-grade slightly, so I hope you will be pleased with your purchase and get what you expect (or more) – please see my feedback for records sold.

BETWEEN THE BUTTONS

MATRIX NOS:

Side 1: XARL-7644-6A

Side 2: XARL-7645-5A

CONDITION:

Sleeve: EX

This is a very nice sleeve, very clean both sides. The front has retained most of its sheen, and although the back looks a little 'off white' with age there is almost no wear, and no staining or blemishes of any kind - unusual for this sleeve. There are a few very fine lines on the front surface, a few very small light creases mainly along the spine (see the photo), and some light patchy wear along the top edge only noticeable if you look down on it from the top. Otherwise, no laminate lift, no seam splits, all other edges in very good condition, no stickers, and the spine is in really nice fully legible condition, if slightly angled towards the front of the sleeve.

Inner sleeve: NM

Truly lovely original inner sleeve, so crisp and white, almost like new apart from the glue dots that can be seen, but these are clear, they haven't yellowed. And the print is bold and unfaded. Fantastic.

Labels: NM

Almost no spindle marks - clearly the record has hardly been played! The labels are silky smooth and in genuinely lovely condition.

Vinyl-visual: EX+

Very nearly NM. Clean and shiny untarnished black vinyl. Side 1 looks like new, and so does Side 2, but there is just one fine single line in short broken sections that curves around the same groove in 'Please Go Home' (see photo). However, although visible it is clearly a surface line as it doesn't make a sound and the stylus glides past it as if it isn't even there!

Vinyl-aural: NM

The whole record plays through beautifully from beginning to end! The one visible surface mark mentioned above cannot be heard at all. There is a little of the usual crackle along the run-in grooves, a few one-off little clicks, but there are no scratches, and the grooves are lovely and quiet between tracks - clean, clear and unworn. This LP plays through LIKE NEW with great punchy mono sound - completely enjoyable!

GRADING:

I follow RECORD COLLECTOR guidelines, and use Good (G or G+), Very Good (VG or VG+), Excellent (EX or EX+), and Near Mint or Mint. The majority of the records I sell range from VG+ to Near Mint, and come from my collection of over 1,500 albums and singles. I listen to them on a Rega Planar 3 turntable.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

(FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced).

DELIVERY:

Within the UK all records are sent Royal Mail 1st Class Signed-For in custom record mailers.
