Thick cut , monster slab! Excellent sheen! Peephole issue, with Printed In England, manufactured sleeve! Master cut from original recording with 1/1 MOTHER stampers ! Earliest JT tax codes! With red poly lined inner sleeve, without track listing! One of the rarest, Stones albums? The most difficult to track down, especially in this remarkable condition!

LK 5025 Original and much rarer than the unboxed variant, a second pressing of this monumental Stones classic! The last 60’s release of the Stones catalogue and the first , original material released after Brian Jones’ death.

 Only a small number issued with the boxed Decca logo on labels, as mono recordings were going into decline at this time, and the more affordable stereo records were becoming more and more popular, as they were a great innovation for that era. Therefore these particular boxed mono pressings, were in little demand, and were phased out very quickly, with only a very limited number produced, hence the apparent rarity .

Thicker glossy variant poster.Appears to have been hung with one corner slightly missing. Very good condition.

Album sleeve EX-

Laminated front face , with a reflective sheen on display, for all to view. Sleeve with peep hole on reverse face.  Printed in England text issue , with spine square and solid. No rips, nor tears. Spine clearly shows title. No prominent edge / spinal wear and a pleasure to view. Just light general wear and better than most.

A few laminate creases but the sheen from the front face is excellent. Shows light handling, as many were fingered so much, the shiny surface became dulled, with a matt finish on most of these wonderful covers. The lamination on this is quite remarkable, with no lifting along vertical spinal edge. Running your fingers over this glossy façade gives immense pleasure, not to mention its visual impact.  Feels  clean and a solid example . Only light discoloration on reverse face. Superb!

Labels

Red, mono, BOXED, Decca logo and how wonderful these appear against the jet black of the vinyl. Only issued for a short period of time, when the more coveted stereo recordings were just beginning to emerge, so they were left on the shelf so to speak, and therefore were phased out quite quickly. So rare and in excellent condition. Just a very few spindle lines visible, with silver text unfaded, shiny and with a fresh pressed appearance. Superb examples of a highly desirable label format. No rips, nor tears, nor any graffiti . No mottling , nor any other signs of damage.

Audio

Tones are conveyed with a profound depth and a finite precision. The wider channels, from the mono perspective, deliver each  magnificent track ,like no other. No distortion detected which is quite unusual against these mono releases, which were heavily played with weighty stylii ,which caused massive groove wear and surface damage.No sticks,no repeats,no jumps ,nor skips. There is no doubt that this record has been lightly played.

 Have listened very closely and will award at least a very good grading ,and considerably better in some parts. There is surface noise, primarily between tracks and during the quieter parts of the music, but quite honestly , does little to affect the presentation. Apart from that, the audio is remarkable. Country Honk comes across the best I have heard with the fiddle and slide guitar operating in sensational style. Tones are delivered with an extra warm punch and yet with a concise definition.

The Tenor sax on Live With Me has to be heard, as the the depth of sound from these audio channels, delivers  like no other.

Vinyl

The vinyl on side 1 is virtually unmarked, showing a couple of ultra light surface marks,  if angled against a strong light. However, the highly polished sheen is absolutely stunning and makes any markings  disappear when viewing/angling at 45 degrees. Looks absolutely remarkable .On side 2 there are a few minor visible scuffs, which extend across 2-3 of the tracks, but do little to interfere with the delivery. There are some minor ticks, one second pop  and the inevitable low level static in a few places but the scuffs are mainly cosmetic , not affecting the audio much at all and tones rise above any surface disturbance !Overall, the audio must be graded very good +(Strict UK RRPG standards apply)

A lovely record and becoming more and more difficult to locate, especially in this remarkable condition . A superb example of a mega rare, Stones release.  One of the best albums ever produced. Believed to be one of the rarest and most difficult to track down in the Stones repertoire!
