A “once in a lifetime” opportunity, to own the complete and earliest first pressing, of this astronomical STONES’ release with the ultra scarce PROMO booklet .Hardly ever seen now .You may never get another opportunity to own a genuine piece of 60’s/70’s music history. So please do not miss out !
All gradings/assessments are in accordance with the RRPG Rare record Collectors Catalogue.
The LIB promotional booklet is in excellent+ condition, and has the LIB album design on front page. A six page exclusive which features stunning pics of The Stones and a full , comprehensive back catalogue of LP/EPs/and singles issued up to, and including the LIB album release. The booklet has even included the ultra rare, shadowed Aftermath album cover !! Just shows you how early this promo booklet was released. The booklet only accompanied a HANDFUL of the earliest first UK LIB pressings, as all the LPs featured in the booklet, all have mono and stereo catalogue numbers, and of course mono was discontinued in 1970 .Virtually impossible to locate now and a magnificent collectors’ item. The promo booklet has a Mint value £500 alone without the album! The booklet is in superb condition, except for light handling impression. The booklet has no discoloration, and apart from two slight, top corner bends on back page, is in stunning condition . Please see pics for further details. No rips. No major tears. No surface damage at all. Staples are firmly attached, and has a solid feel , -a fantastic scarce exhibit! Never seen before in such superb format !
These mono releases are becoming rarer by the day and to locate one in this COMPLETE condition is remarkable. This particular album was released around the time of the stereo initiation, the launch of a new sound dimension. Obviously, the public’s demand for the stereo format hit the roof, so the mono copies were phased out fairly quickly, as they produced low public demand at the time. Some were even scrapped as many did not sell, and production ceased very rapidly , hence the apparent rarity of this beautiful vinyl. Rest assured that, the ones that were bought, were played and played into submission, taken to wild parties, used and abused big time, with the result of most copies being found with massive groove wear and surface damage .
This album presentation I have scrutinised extremely carefully and in my opinion is a superb, highly collectable example of this huge Stones release, as it is offered in complete format with the ultra rare and original LIB promotional booklet. And it is one of the first to run off the factory press with THE earliest 1A matrices and the earliest possible mothers/stampers e.g. -1 / -1 on BOTH sides of the vinyl !! The inverted V is also found in the run off groove, only found on the earliest ,very FIRST pressings! Try finding another with this symbol on the run off groove ! Ultra scarce !!!!This is certainly one for the serious collector.
LK 5025 date of release 1969
Labels
RED Decca, unboxed ,1st issue format .At least Very good ++ condition with no rips, nor tears. Several spindle lines visible ,but no surface damage at all !!! No graffiti . No fading of any kind. All text clearly legible . Beautiful examples . No scuffs, nor any other damage visible. Appear superb against the highly polished , jet black vinyl surfaces. Silver text still maintains its metallic finish, and projects magnificently against the deep blood-red, scarlet coloration. Ffrr ear logos absolutely perfect and are beautiful examples of the first issue!!! NO mottling, NO peeling, NO lifting. NO crusting! NO hand writing of any kind.
Inner red sleeve
-THE original ,with no blacked out choir credits. THE first issue red ,MONO, inner, track listing sleeve !!!! General light creasing visible, top edge worn with some nicks/ one minor tear. At least Good++ condition with no major seam splits.
Poster
The Victor Kahn 1st issue original !!!! Most are found missing from this monumental classic, so we are blessed to find it still present . A genuine original , 1st issue poster. It is in stunning condition with folds crisp and undamaged. Not displayed on a wall and minimal handling. Some age discoloration on reverse. Nr MINT- !Beautiful example !
Album sleeve
Excellent
1st issue, Upton Printing text on lower right edge of reverse face . Made in England. Peep hole on reverse and patent applications text. Reverse face has hardly any discoloration/staining visible which is very unusual to find after 40+ years ! Pinched spine clearly shows title and is in at least excellent condition. The thick lamination is sound, with no lifting on front face and hardly any creasing visible. The thick, laminate coat , still reflects a distinctive gloss. Hardly any ring wear visible. Only fault appears to be a slight knock on mid opening edge and a nick just beginning to wear through on reverse edge, at that point. Pin holes top right corner of reverse but not clearly visual on front face .Superb example of the earliest album sleeve . Corners are beginning to show their grey tips! A wonderful collectors’ item .
The very first album cover comes complete with THE original first issue sticker, which is in excellent condition. All contours are sound, with just a minor sign of attempted lifting on lower right, contour edge . This sleeve increases in value and its collectability, if the sticker is still on the front face, as believe it or not, many sleeves do no longer have this ultra rarity, as they were always being removed (because of the missing poster)!! So scarce now to find a genuine, first issue album sleeve , in this complete condition .
Vinyl
Very good++/Excellent- visual/excellent+ sheen
Highly polished with a mirror like sheen . Highly desirable record indeed as after 40 years , it still appears in very good++/excellent- condition. See pics to whet your appetite!!! A pleasing visual!! Thick and solid , a heavy weight pressing and gives a buzz when held. Against a strong light, there is a couple of distinctive surface marks visible on either side, a few ultra faint surface marks/hairlines, if angled against 45 degrees . One deeper fingernail scratch observed and is virtually invisible on first inspection . Most of the surface marks disappear beneath its mirror like glaze !

Grading assessed as per the RRPG catalogue
A phenomenal, depth of sound from the monotone perspective, which is quite remarkable and the tones are conveyed with a pinpoint precision and a razor sharp edge!
Side 1
At least Excellent
Phenomenal delivery ! Tones are executed with a tremendous depth of sound and the clarity of tonal definition, is rarely found on these vintage pressings. Most channels remain predominantly clear, with tones delivered with a warm, sharp punch and definitive edge. Little low level background static , few and far between , detected during opening grooves , but does little to affect the music presentation. Tones are projected magnificently and give the listener an enjoyable experience. There is no distortion detected and the two distinctive visual marks , have no effect on the music presentation. I detected no major problems at all and grade the aural delivery at least EXCELLENT and significantly better for most of play. Strict grading applies.
Side 2 Mostly Excellent /Just one minor fault Track 1
Fantastic delivery yet again, and just one disturbance on sound. There is a fingernail scratch i.e. during Track 1 Midnight Rambler. It is heard as the tempo slows , and during the silent pauses between vocals, and is soon over, so is heard at the best time, with little interference to the general music presentation. That said, there are approx. 5 clear audible clicks and approx. 7 softer ticks audible, as the stylus passes through, the first five are fairly sharp and then they quieten down ,so you need to know about this minor flaw. (So dips momentarily to Good) Again , there is some low level distant static, in a few and far between places, i.e. during intro/opening grooves owing to dust particles in the grooves but this should improve with play. Apart from that above mentioned minor flaw, there are a few(3-4) very faint, ultra light ticks at start of track 2 ,which again does little to affect the music presentation .For most of play the aural delivery is sensational /excellent ,with no other serious sound disturbances to report.
A Very enjoyable listen and so rare to find, on one of the most coveted, Stones albums in the group’s repertoire! Beautiful tonal execution. Clear channels for most of play! An absolute delight !
The most important feature of this audio is its concise delivery, each note delivered sharp and clear, with minimal distortion detected. This is very rare to find on a monotone recording, where the heavy styli of the sixties, bore into the grooves ,causing considerable sound distortion. I have laboured through plenty of vinyls, to locate that scarce clarity of delivery, not so much through the channels, but of the tones themselves. It is this feature that rates the true value of a vintage classic.
An extremely rare exhibit and of true investment quality in its complete format . Please do not miss this opportunity to possess a classic masterpiece .
