The Rolling Stones No.2, 1964 Mono LP, Decca LK 4661.
This is nearly a nice – but very frustrating example of the LP The Rolling Stones No.2. It was released on the Decca label in 1964 – LK 4661. The a-side Matrix Number is XARL 6619-2A and the b-side is XARL 6620-1A. 99.9% of the record grades as NEX condition. There are a few quiet ‘ticks’ but it is lovely and shiny and has hardly ever been played. Which makes the single fault on the track What a Shame on the first side even more annoying! At around the middle point of that track there is a scratch along – rather than across – one groove where I think an old-fashioned heavy stylus was once dropped on it, causing that scratch. And my modern stylus ‘sticks’ (i.e. jumps back to the previous groove). You have to help it along manually to get over that one fault. Which of course is pretty much unforgiveable where a record is concerned. Except that – the rest of it is fine and I am certainly not going to throw it away because of that once single fault!The cover is the non-flip-back type. It is laminated on the front. It has some light creasing in the laminate (with one noticeable one in the top left corner) and the back is pretty clean with just minor yellowing by the opening. i.e. not loads of grubby finger-marks.
