Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers - UK First Issue

Selling-up my extensive record collection. Lots of interesting LPs in the collection - do have a look at my other items, and there are new listings every week.

Sticky Fingers is one of the Stones very best albums. There are many variations to labels and even types of zips, on original UK 1971 copies of this album. Discogs tells us - "The very first UK edition did NOT have the inscription "A Promotone N.V. RECORD" on the label, because the Promotone company was founded only a few months later (in September 1971, exactly, in Amsterdam, Netherlands). The album "Sticky Fingers" was released in April 1971." If the Promotone was there, it'd be on left side at around 9 o'clock - but does not appear on my copy. A4 / B3 matrix, which is the earliest matrix.

Pictures are my own photos of the items for sale. Photos are part of the description, have a good look. I photographed the details, but forgot to do front in general so I've grabbed a stock picture - see description instead.

Cover - Top-opening sleeve is very good. A bit discoloured due to age, a few tiny specks and some scoring, a dent towards top left, below the belt near jeans pocket. Above the zip, the cover is die-cut into left and right halves. Left part follows the belt buckle then cuts back to the left. This leaves a small piece on the right half which is above the buckle. This gets bent very easily, and this cover has two creases to that little flap. Zip still works but is stiff. Zip is still firmly attached - but playing with it might pull it out (!) Inside (pants) picture still excellent. Back of cover is good, discoloured like front, with some scoring and little dents, which don't break through the picture surface. Tiny bumps along the opening, a little wear to corners and a tiny bump to one of them. Edges are otherwise excellent. Still very sound. Insert is included (as pictured) - very good - picture side is excellent, writing side is yellowed and has some small stains and dents.

Record - has a few flaws, so I have also play-tested it. On side one I saw a short impact on track 4, and a scratch coming from the lead-out and across track 5. On side 2, a light scratch across tracks one ad two, and a light scratch across track 4. There's a fingernail mark on track 5, and another scratch on track 4. Play-test - as we often find, loud music means we don't hear any effect from light scratches. Loud tracks have no audible problems, except for a few soft crackles in the first few rotations at the start of side 1 - i.e. Brown Sugar. On side one we hear crackles during "Wild Horses", and crackles at the fade-out on " Can You Hear Me Knocking", continuing into some of "You Got To Move". On side 2, "I Got The Blues" has crackling in quiet parts. Sister Morphine has some light crackles, which don't spoil the song. "Moonlight Mile" has some crackles but is mostly fine. "Dead Flowers" counts as a loud track for these purposes - it sounds excellent. The general sound of this record is excellent, loud and clear, a very enjoyable listen, though not for the very crackle-averse.

I have been collecting records for 50 years (when finances allowed!), and now it's time to sell-up. I bought them mostly around local shops (second-hand), but sometimes from e-bay, and sometimes new, for my favourite bands.

When I'm checking for damage on records, I look at them carefully with my reading glasses on, in good daylight. This method detects any bits of damage that will affect what you hear when listening to it - and lots that are not audible. Using a spotlight or direct sunlight shows more surfacey marks sometimes, but I don't do that - records are for listening to, not trying to see your face in.

I don't mail things personally, to countries outside the UK - ( I mean it, don't ask) - but I am happy to use E-Bay UK's Global Shipping Program, for sending things abroad.

Under this scheme, I send the parcel to an e-bay depot in UK, and they forward it to the overseas buyer.

They have a tracked courier service, for the journey from their UK depot, to the buyer.

This means that I can ONLY accept payments through e-bay (Pay Now button), and I can't send invoices. Combined postage may or may not be possible through the Program - if e-bay shows combined postage for their courier job, I'll do combined postage for the transit inside UK. I can't see information about this until you pay.

International buyers should be able to see a postage cost to their country, you may have to input your location, if your country is included in the scheme.
