Verified 1971 First US Pressing from the Presswell (PR) plant. This copy features the critical "Dist. by Atco" and "1841 B'way" distribution credits on the labels, which were only present on the initial production runs. Both sides of the dead wax include the "Rolling Stones records" etching and the AS/AS3 Atlantic Studios mastering marks. Includes the iconic Andy Warhol-designed cover with a real, fully functional metal zipper and the original printed inner sleeve.
Released in April 1971, Sticky Fingers was the first album released on the band's own Rolling Stones Records label. Featuring the debut of the iconic "Tongue and Lips" logo and legendary tracks like "Brown Sugar" and "Wild Horses," it is widely considered one of the greatest rock albums ever made. The innovative zipper cover remains one of the most famous pieces of cover art in music history.
Condition Details:
• The Media: G+ — Exceptional "like-new" gloss and luster. Visually shows a few significant surface scratches, but the wax remains bright and reflective, showing it has not been played to death.
• The Jacket/Case: G+ — Original working zipper cover. The zipper is fully functional. There is an owner's name written in ink on the back of the jacket. Shows shelf wear and age consistent with an original 1971 copy.
• Inlay: VG — Original printed inner sleeve included. Shows splits on the sides and bottom.
The record has been moved to a premium Hudson Hi-Fi anti-static poly-lined sleeve. This ensures archival protection and prevents the "paper rashing" or static common with factory sleeves. Additionally, the entire jacket is housed in a brand-new 3mil outer sleeve for superior shelf protection.
