THE ROLLING STONES "STICKY FINGERS" LP - Rare Original 1971 UK Press (Rolling Stones Records COC 59100)
"Sticky Fingers" was created in the middle of the Stones' most creative period. From the introduction of Mick Taylor for 1969's "Let it Bleed" through to "It's only Rock n Roll" five years later, the Stones were Rock's Royalty - completely untouchable. "Sticky Fingers" kicks off with one of Richard's greatest riffs on "Brown Sugar" and it just gets better from there, blending their classic Blues Rock with out and out Country ("Dead Flowers"), traditional Country Blues (Mississippi Fred MacDowell's "You Gotta Move") and the beautiful, balladic "Wild Horses" supposedly influenced, if not actually co-written, by the legendary Gram Parsons. And Taylor's influence is most evident on the haunting closer "Moonlight Mile" another of their strongest-ever songs. The word "Classic" is over-used in the field of music these days but it actually applies to this and the other Stones albums of the Mick Taylor era.
Vinyl is in superb condition, on first inspection it looks virtually unplayed, retaining all of its original shine. This one has obviously been played very little, and always treated with extreme care - a beautiful piece! As you surely already know, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find classic vinyl in such nice condition. This one has no scratches, no hairlines, no surface marks, and just a couple of extremely light paper marks seen under strong light, and without any impact whatsoever on sound reproduction. Playing the record, I can confirm that play-grade coincides with visual grading - it plays superbly, without any clicks or pops, jumps or crackle. Record is graded as near mint, if not better!!!
Rolling Stones Records labels are near mint, without any tears or writing, and only the slightest of spindle marks.
Stunning sleeve is in fantastic condition for its age, looking virtually like new. I don't have to tell you how rare this is - please have a look at the photographs, I do my best to give an accurate detail of item's condition! It shows 100% solid seams, no splits or tears, no writing, no ring, no spine wear, near perfect graphics, not even creasing! I've never seen a cover like this - it is so flat it looks virtually brand new! These sleeves are usually completely worn since all of us wanted to know what's behind that zipper - but not this one! Zipper is crisp and in perfect working condition. Cover is in virtually mint condition, only thing that shows its age is slight tarnishing of metal on zipper! Insert with photo and recording info is included in virtually mint condition. These pressings are extremely hard to find, in any condition - even more so on the stunning shape this one is in. On 15-Feb-05 at 08:03:24 GMT, seller added the following information: I've received a few emails asking for a more detailed description of this cover, so I decided to add it to listing. There is no corner wear, and also no corner bumps. Also absolutely no scuffs of any kind neither on front nor back. Top and bottom of spine are slightly pinched. Apart from aforementioned tarnishing/greening of the zipper, there is a small indentation on the back, not affecting colour and presumably caused by the zipper of a similar sleeve when shelved together - this would have obviouskly happened even before they left record shop for the first time, so I'll confirm my description that this cover is as good as when it was originally purchased in 1971!
