1960 DONNA DLP 2111
RON HOLDEN - "LOVE YOU SO..."

Cover is VG++ - Fully Intact with light wear and browning on back cover

Record is Very Clean VG+ with just light scuffs and a couple of hairline scratches. Plays very nice with no skips.

Ron Holden got his break into the music business when, after being arrested on charges of marijuana and alcohol possession, a police officer in the station heard him singing and told Holden to call him after he was released. (this ONLY happens in Hollywood!) That police officer was Larry Nelson, who was leaving the force to start his own label, and released Holden's first debut song, "Love You So," in 1960. Ron Holden's "Love You So" is a mesmerizing, metronomic record. Bob Keane of Del-Fi Records purchased the "Love You So" master and released it nationally on his Donna subsidiary in 1960, yielding a Top Ten pop hit (number seven on the Pop Singles chart). Holden's album of the same name contains "Love You So" and its B-side, "My Babe," as well as "Gee, But I'm Lonesome," a follow-up single that just missed Billboard's Top 100. Future Beach Boy Bruce Johnston (with nary a trace of his later surf 'n' sand material) wrote or co-wrote every song on Love You So with the exception of the two sides of Holden's first Donna single. The songs include straight-ahead rockers ("My Babe," "Your Line Is Busy"), pop ballads (the lovely "Let No One Tell You"), and a pair of "Love You So" clones that make use of the same herky-jerky rhythm and minimalist woodblock percussion.?
