Rostropovich –
SCHEHERAZADE –
2LP Angel Sonic Series SSB-4502- 45RPM –
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!
There are many SCHEHERAZADEs of note out there, to be sure. The Reiner on TAS is magnificent, as is this stunning Rostropovich read, pressed just before the demise of records by Angel in their wonderfully dynamic Sonic Series of platters cut at 45RPM.
Hold onto your hat, as these pressings capture every nuance, with plenty of “you are there” definition, a low noise floor, and a spectacular amount of headroom. (Put the dog outside and the cat upstairs before you place the stylus down. Trust me.)
A terrific set of LPs, that will at once convince you that all orchestral records ought to be cut at higher speeds.
Cover of this edition is without major fault, just has a small sticker tear on front. Within, are the two heavier platters in near-mint shape.
For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.
Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $15 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
