Description
ARTIST: Roy Brooks
TITLE: The Free Slave
LABEL: Muse Records, MR - 5003, 1972 US Promo Pressing
CONDITION: NM-/NM
SLEEVE: NM-, small saw cut near opening, some aging and beginning of a ring on the rear cover. Strong spine, no writings or splits. Very glossy cover looks amazing, especially for it's age!
RECORD: NM, shiny and glossy like new! Shows some minor paper scuffing, not affecting play. Specifically 2 stray visible marks on side 2 track 1, neither can be heard. I play graded this excellent album and this copy is fantastic. Barely any background noise: there is a bass solo toward the end of side 1 that is probably the quietest part of the record, you can hear the faintest of crackling during this. Otherwise perfect playback. Visually this is NM but I would almost say it play grades at Mint.
COMMENTS: This is one of the greatest jazz albums of it's time and maybe of all-time! A killer band led by drummer Roy Brooks, captured in a live setting where everyone is cookin', smokin', workin'... you name it. Woody Shaw, Cecil McBee, George Coleman and Hugh Lawson are all-stars at arguably their peak. Highly sought after these days and setting new price records with each copy sold. This original white label promo copy is a keeper, archival copy in my opinion.
HEADS UP: Staxofsoul is back!! I'll be posting records every week featuring my usual cool eclectic mix so put me on your favorite sellers list and start following my postings.
NOTE: VPI cleaned means that this record was cleaned on a professional $500 VPI cleaning machine, which does wonders for the playback of all vinyl records!
DOMESTIC SHIPPING ONLY: At this time we are only shipping to the United States. Please do not bid if outside of the USA. Costs are too high and shipping times have been very unreliable. Of course we will gladly combine shipping on multiple items to save you shipping costs.
NOTE:All of our records are professionally packed and shipped in brand new record mailing boxes for maximum protection. The records are removed from the jacket & placed inside a brand new plastic outer sleeve to prevent seam splits during transit. Please be aware that these supplies are expensive and represent a small portion of my shipping charges. We care because we're record collectors too!
