Description
From the archives of a noted Australian rock’n’roll and entertainment historian comes this jazz classic. Roy Haynes Quartet. Out Of The Afternoon. Australian pressing. Mono 1962. Impulse A-23. IL 30894. Van Gelder stamped into the dead wax. RARE original jazz recording. Record in Good Plus condition, scratches, some of which appear very deep but they look worse than they are. I’ve played this through on my Linear Design GST 1 turntable, a hefty 70s monster that’s guaranteed to pretty much play anything (I can’t predict if this would sound any different on a girly modern turntable, though it certainly wouldn’t sound any better) and there’s some light surface noise in the very quiet passages but no clicks, pops etc. This record does sound amazing. Cover is Good Plus with chips and splits on two of the edges, ring wear, tape marks and pen marks. See photos for more information.
PLUS Test Pressing of Australian mono recording of Roy Haynes Quartet Out Of The Afternoon LP. Plain white labels with MX11177 and IL 30894 identifiers. Van Gelder stamped into the dead wax. Record in Very Good Plus condition, dusty and dirty from storage, some minor marks that don’t affect play. Like the Impulse recording above, it sounds great, only a little light surface noise in the quietter passages.
