Roy Haynes Quartet Out of the afternoon Sparton Impulse A 23 (CANADA) mono red label with deep groove and folder laminated cover same as US edition - rec. at Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey on May 16 & 23, 1962 - issue in US in 1962 with orange label - this is the same year 1962 Canadian issue with writing 'Sparton' on top right side of front cover aside the Impulse A 23 logo and 'Manufactured by Sparton Canada LTD' on bottom inside folder cover - has stamped on dead wax 'A 23 A - Van Gelder' and 'A 23 B - Van Gelder'Roy Haynes : drums - Roland Kirk : tenor sax, manzello, stritch, flute - Tommy Flanagan : piano - Henry Grimes : bass Side 1 : Moon Ray (A.Shaw-P.Madison) - Fly me to the moon (B.Howard) - Raoul (R.Hynes) Side 2 : Snap crackle (R.Haynes) - If I should lose you (Robin-Rainger) - Long wharf (R.Haynes) - Some other spring (Kitchings-Herzog)
Visual grading : record is Excellent+ full lustre has light wear and a light unfeelable scuff on first track side B . Clean labels with several spindle wear Playing grading : record is EX+ to Near Mint- plays very well with loud and clear sound. Has a minimal short occasional background noise much below music's level Cover grading : laminated folder cover is VG to Very Good + has light wear to corners and to spine - has some small stains on the top of inner part of cover
